If you’re using a Jio SIM and just want to know how to activate or deactivate call forwarding, you’re in the right place. I’m not going to make it complicated. I’ll just show you the simple steps to do it.
Whether your phone is busy, switched off, or you don’t want to pick up calls, you can send them to another number. And if call forwarding is already on and you want to stop it, I’ll show you that too.
Just scroll down. Everything you need is right here.
Call forwarding is a setting that lets you send incoming calls to another number. You can use it when your phone is busy, switched off, or if you don’t want to answer calls on your Jio SIM.
These are the four main call forwarding options offered by Jio, and you can pick whichever one suits your need.
That's all. These are the four types to divert calls. You can choose whichever one suits your need.
Now, let’s move to the steps to activate them one by one.
Want to activate call forwarding on Jio? It's actually very simple. You don’t need any app or settings, just dial a code. Depending on when you want the calls to be forwarded, you have different options.
Here’s the list:
Condition | Activation Code |
---|---|
Forward all incoming calls | *401*<10-digit number># |
Forward when your Jio number is busy | *405*<10-digit number># |
Forward when you don’t answer | *403*<10-digit number># |
Forward when your phone is unreachable | *409*<10-digit number># |
Just replace the mobile number with the number you want to forward calls to.
After dialing the code, press the call button like you’re making a regular call.
Once you dial the code, you’ll get a message on the screen saying it’s activated.
That’s all it takes to configure call forwarding based on your needs.
If you’ve turned on call forwarding earlier and now want to cancel it, don’t worry. Turning it off is even easier. You just need to dial a simple code. You can stop all or specific call forwarding types using these individual codes.
Here’s what to use:
Condition | Deactivation Code |
---|---|
Turn off all call forwarding | ##002# |
Stop "always forward" | ##401# |
Stop forwarding when busy | ##405# |
Stop forwarding when not answered | ##403# |
Stop forwarding when unreachable | ##409# |
Just dial the code like you’re calling someone. You’ll see a short message confirming that it’s been turned off.
No confirmation SMS will come, but if the message shows success, you're good.
Not sure if call forwarding is still active? Want to check where your calls are going? You can check the status using these simple codes.
Here’s how:
Condition | Check Code |
---|---|
Check all types of call forwarding | *#21# |
Check only "busy" forwarding | *#67# |
Check only "not answered" forwarding | *#61# |
Check only "unreachable" forwarding | *#62# |
Dial the code, and you’ll see on-screen where the calls are going (if it’s active). If nothing is active, it’ll show “not forwarded” or “not set.”
By the way, if you're also looking to activate or deactivate call forwarding in Airtel or Vi (Vodafone Idea), I’ve written separate blogs for those too. Feel free to check them out.
Sometimes, even after dialing the right code, things don’t work the way they should. If you're stuck or confused, you're not alone. Here are some common issues jio users face with call forwarding:
You dial the code, but it says “invalid MMI code” or doesn’t respond at all.
Make sure you’re entering the full code correctly.
Example: *401*9876543210# - don’t forget the *, #, and no extra space.
If the issue continues, try restarting your phone before trying to enable call forwarding again.
Try restarting your phone and dialing the code again.
You’ve activated call forwarding, but calls aren’t getting forwarded.
Double-check the number you entered while activating. One wrong digit, and it won’t work.
Use the check code (like *#21#) to see if it’s actually active.
Reactivate it using the same code again. Sometimes the first try doesn’t go through properly.
You dial the deactivation code like ##002#, but it still seems to be active.
Try again after a minute.
If it still doesn’t work, remove your SIM, reinsert it, and then dial the code again.
If nothing works, call Jio customer care on 198 (toll-free) and ask them to turn it off from their end.
You tried forwarding your Jio calls to an Airtel or Vi number, and it didn’t work.
In most cases, Jio allows forwarding to any Indian mobile number. But if that number has DND (Do Not Disturb) or any incoming call restrictions, the call won’t go through.
Try forwarding to another number just to check if the issue is with your forwarding setup or the number itself.
That’s all. These are the most common issues. In most cases, it gets fixed with one retry or a quick SIM refresh.
So that’s it, now you know how to activate and deactivate call forwarding on your Jio number without any confusion. Whether your phone is busy, out of network, or you just want to forward calls to another number, everything’s covered here with the exact codes you need.
And hey, if you also want to know about call forwarding on Airtel or Vi, I’ve written simple guides for those too. You can check them out if you ever need to set up or stop call forwarding on those networks as well.
If you're looking to view your Jio call history, this step-by-step blog can guide you through it.
I hope this blog made things easier for you. If it helped even a little, I’m glad you found it.
Thanks for reading.
